Cooking with Cricut Challenge #15

I decided to join in a challenge over at www.cookingwithcricut.blogspot.com in which the theme is anything birthday! The sponsor of the challenge is Peachy Keen Stamps! I LOVE PKS!! Plus they have an additional challenge to go along with a sketch for your card or layout!

For this little card, I decided to try and go by the sketch, I twisted it around a little, but kept all of the elements. Most of my paper is scrap Bazzill cardstock. The background and circle was from the DCWV Celebrations paper stack. I inked up the sides of the circle, shadow, and rectangle with some ColorBox Antique Pewter ink. I used a Cuttlebug folder to emboss the smaller green rectangle and then cut it out with a Spellbinders Nestabilites Die. I used some Divine Twine from Pink By Design and my stamped sentiment is from the My Pink Stamper "Everyday Life" set. The raccoon was cut from page 33 of the handbook and stamped with a Critter Face from Peachy Keen Stamps Critter Face Set A Medium set. I added a little bit to the raccoon with a white and black gel pen! Enjoy!!

Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge #3 and Wacky Wednesday #23 Challenge!

I decided to use this card for a couple of challenges this week, because I've been taking care of a sick kiddo this weekend. So I am submitting this card for the Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge #3 hosted by Meriah over at Two Scraptastic Gals and for the Wacky Wednesday #23 - Color Challenge over at More Than Favors by Paula. The challenge for CCCC #3 was to use the Create-A-Critter cartridge. The Wacky Wednesday challenge was to use the colors brown, green and pink!

This card I cut at 5" x 6 1/2" on ivory cardstock. I used Recollections Kraft paper for the background and embossed it with the Tween Dots texture plate from Sizzix. (And added a little stitching!) I LOVE my new Divine Twine from Pink By Design, so I just had to add the green and white color that I had just purchased! I cut this cute little skunk off of page 61 of the handbook and the grass off of page 45. The pink cardstock is Bazzill Piglet cardstock, and I used scraps for the green. I got my new Peachy Keen Face Stamps a few days ago and had to use this cute 1 3/8" stamp from the Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed Face Assortment. I used black StazOn ink and colored it in with some Copic markers. I added a little bit of Pebbles Classic chalk to the cheeks. I added some stitching to the skunk with a Memory Maker marker. The stamped sentiment comes from the Even More Punny-licous stamp set from My Pink Stamper. I also rounded the corners with my Fiskars punch. Enjoy!!

Peachy Keen Stamps: Sketch Challenge 44!

The ladies over at the Peachy Keen Stamps Challenge Blog hosted another challenge this week. The challenge was to create a card or layout based on the following sketch, with a twist! The twist was to use a monochromatic color scheme!

The design must be new and it must follow the sketch with the twist to be eligible for a prize!

For this 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" card, I chose the color scheme of yellow. Most of my cardstock is Bazzill cardstock, except for the lightest yellow that was punched with a Martha Stewart punch. I used the DCWV Ultimate Paper Stack for the floral cardstock. The twine is Divine Twine sold by Sarah over at Pink by Design. I cut the lemon from the Simply Charmed cartridge on page 48 of the handbook. The face stamp was (of course) Peachy Keen Cheery-O's Face Assortment (1 3/8" stamp), and colored with some Copics. The stamp sentiment is from the Fruit-n-Veggie Puns by My Pink Stamper! Enjoy!!

FCCB Challenge Me Monday #44 - Neglected Cartridge

The Fantastic Cricut Challenge Blog had a new challenge up on Monday to use a neglected cartridge. (Or any cartridge that you haven't used in over 6 months.) It was kind of a tough decision, but I was finally able to settle on Pagoda!

This little Panda is on page 36 of the handbook. I used just plain black cardstock for the Panda and the 5"x5" card. The background and the white part of the Panda is from the Recollections Valentine Paper pack. I added some of my new Divine Twine from Pink By Design, and the stamp (inked in Riding Hood Red from Stampin' Up) is from the More Punny-licious set from Robyn over at My Pink Stamper! I added some stitching with a matching red Memory Maker pen and a white gel pen. Enjoy!!

Throwback Thursday Challenge - Paper Dolls

Emma over at My Creative Time is hosting another Throwback Thursday Challenge! There are two requirements for this challenge, the main one being to use either the Paper Doll Dress Up or Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge. The second requirement is to use either a dry or heat embossed element as well!

I chose the Island Girl on page 42 of the handbook of the Paper Doll Dress Up. I think the hair might have been on another page! I cut the girl with light tan cardstock and stamped her face with one of my NEW Peachy Keen Stamps "Wide Eyes Kids" Assortment stamps! I love the new stamps! I cut the sun out of the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge (page 40) on yellow Bazzill cardstock. The background was embossed with the Sizzix Tween dots embossing folder. I cut some "sand" for the bottom of the card and then put some faux stitching around. The Aloha is from Pink By Design's new stamp set "Summer Vacation." I stamped it with VersaMark and then embossed it with some plain white embossing powder. To finish off the card, I added a little color to the face with some Copics, and added some of my new Divine Twine (also from Pink By Design) to the card and the pony tail and some iRock gems! Enjoy!

Terrific Tuesday Challenge - Sweethearts

Scrappy Moms Stamps is having another Terrific Tuesday Challenge! This weeks theme involves the use of the Sweethearts cartridge! Here is my submission!

The card is 5x7. I used the DCWV Linen Closet pack for the striped cardstock and DCWV Cafe Mediterranean stack for the floral cardstock. The bottom strip is just some scrap DCWV cardstock trimmed with a Martha Stewart edge punch. I found the bride on page 61 of the cartridge handbook. (I cut off the ribbon part of the bouquet, because I didn't like the way it looked!) And added some Stickles to it! The cardstock for the dress is from the Recollections Valentines paper pack, and it is kind of has a soft metallic look to it. I embossed it with a small dots Sizzix folder. And I finally was able to use one of my new Pink By Design stamps sets, "Here comes the Bride," for the sentiment! Enjoy!!

And on another note, I have reached 100 fans on my Facebook page! So...I am thinking of maybe doing a give away when I reach 100 followers on my blog! I don't have any sponsors, but just figured it might be something I should think about! I'll let you know more details later!

Valentines!

Valentine's for my kiddo's classmates!

I decided to do a simple little goodie bag this year for my kids to take to school for Valentine's Day this year. Actually, this is probably the last year my oldest will want to take anything! I just used 3x5 bags from Clear Bags. I used a 3" x 4 1/4" Recollections red cardstock for the background and Recollections (somewhat metallic) off white for the border on the heart Valentine's. (Both came from the Valentine paper pack.) The heart is from Simply Charmed (page 30) and I used a Martha Stewart punch as well as a Peachy Keen face! (Can't wait to get the sets I ordered on the night of release!!) The stamp is from My Pink Stamper's "Love-alicious" set and stamped with Riding Hood Red from Stampin' Up. For the boy's Valentine's I chose the planet on page 38 of the Toy Story cartridge. The stamp is from Pink By Design "Oh Boy" set, and stamped with Pacific Point ink from Stampin' Up. I used a Martha Stewart punch on that border as well, but that cardstock is off white Bazzill. The little items came from Wal-Mart, and include some Sweethearts, an Airhead, eraser and a heart jumpy thing. :D Oh and a little piece of chocolate...everyone needs some chocolate every once in a while! Enjoy!

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday #43 - Sweet Shop!

Here is my first attempt at a Fantabulous Cricut Challenge! This weeks theme is "Sweet Shop." You needed to incorporate something sweet in to your project. The only other requirement is that needs to have an image on the project that has been cut with the Cricut machine. To join in the fun, follow me over to their blog!

I just finished my project for the Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge using the cartridge Mini Monsters. I happen to come across these little candies on page 56 and decided to use them for this challenge! The background is paper from the DCWV Dots, Plaids and Stripes cardstock pack. I inked the sides with ColorBox Seaglass and Alpine ink. I used some Bazzill cardstock and cut it with a dripping border punch because my original plan was to use the "You Melt my Heart" stamp sentiment. But then I came across this sentiment from My Pink Stamper and decided to use it instead! I stamped it with Stampin' Up Not quite Navy ink. The ribbon is from Michael's. Enjoy!

Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge #2 - Mini Monsters!

Paula over at More Than Favors By Paula and Meriah over at Two Scraptastic Gals are hosting another Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge! The cartridge for this week is Mini Monsters! Mini Monsters has a ton of Halloween cuts on it, but with a little imagination, these cuts can be used for a ton of other things! Like for instance...this Valentine Card I made for the challenge!

This card is a 5.5 x 5.5 card. I used the new Sizzix Valentine/Heart embossing folder on the dark red Recollections cardstock for the background. And yesterday in the mail I got my new stamp bundle from Pink By Design, so of course, I had to use one of the new sets! I chose the "Be Mine" set and then this cute little spider on page 54 of the handbook. I added some accents to my embossed hearts with a white gel pen and some faux stitching with both black and white pens. Enjoy!

Imagine Nation Monday Challenge - Episode~154

I use my Expression so much, that my Imagine machine sometimes feels a little left out, so when i came across the Imagine Nation Monday Challenge over at My Creative time I decided I needed to join in!

The challenge is a "Sweet"/"Valentine" challenge, and the main requirement is that you must use your Imagine if you have one. (You are welcome to participate even if you don't!)

I came across these popsicles on the Yummy cartridge (page 12) and realized that a couple of Peachy Keen faces (Simple Sallies and Simple Simons) would look perfect on them! The background image is from the Better Together cartridge (page 4). I didn't want the saying, because I planned on using My Pink Stamper's Love-alicious stamp anyway! I used the Sizzix Tween Dots to emboss the background (Bazzill cardstock) and inked it up with a little bit of Stampin' Up Tempting Turquoise. I used that same ink for the stamp as well. I cut the bottom of the card with a Martha Stewart punch and wrapped some twine around it to finish it off. I added the i-Rock gems, because I felt it was missing something. Enjoy!

Stylish Blogger Award!

I received the Stylish Blogger Award today from Missy over at Quick Chick Designs! Thank you so much Missy! I'm just getting my blog started and didn't imagine that I would be earning an award right off the bat!

There are a couple of "rules" when a blog receives this award. First, thank the person that awarded you! Again, thank you Missy! Second, find eight blogs that you would like to give the award to. (Be sure to leave a comment on the recipient's blog so they know you awarded them and they can pass on the recognition!) Finally, share eight things about yourself!

I have come across a lot of wonderful blogs lately, and there are so many that deserve an award! I chose some that are fairly new, but have some wonderful craft projects!

And finally...eight things about me!

I am a mother to two wonderful boys. I am married to the love of my life (for 11 years) and have four step-daughters. I have been into scrapbooking for years, but just recently got into paper crafting. I do not live anywhere near a craft store, so I have to buy most everything online. (Or drive over 2 hours!) I am a photographer. I work full time, so my crafting and scrapbooking is unfortunately only part time. :( I have a Cricut Expression, Cricut Imagine and a Gypsy. I'm still getting used to all the functions on my Imagine!

And one last card for the day!

I kept myself pretty busy today down in The Cricut Corner! But now it's time to straighten up the house and take care of the hubby and kids! I guess I better call it a day!

We had another friend lose a family member, so I made another sympathy/thinking of you card for her and her family. I decided to use Wild Card for the card, so I could have a matching envelope. I used Recollections Kraft paper for both the card and the envelope and cut it just about 4" (I believe 3.87" to be exact!) I used Bazzill cardstock (off white) for an additional layer and inked it up with Stampin' Up Elegant Eggplant ink. I just wanted it to be simple, so I cut some flowers off of my new Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge at different sizes and used pop dots to adhere them to the card. My sentiment is from Pink By Design's "Faith" stamp set. I also used my white gel pen to add a little bit to the edges and the envelope! Enjoy!

Peachy Keen Stamps: Sketch Challenge 43!

Peachy Keen Stamps is having another sketch challenge. I haven't submitted anything for any of their challenges yet, but figured I may as well!

THE CHALLENGE
Create a card or layout based on the SKETCH provided
  • Design must be new
  • Project must incorporate elements from provided sketch
As with all of their sketch challenges, the basic layout should be there, but we are free to flip elements & get creative! Check out what their design team created for everyone today!

SO HERE IS MY PROJECT!

Friday FedEx delivered my new cartridges and I immediately saw this adorable lion on "Life's A Party!" So I figured since Peachy Keen makes stamps to fit little critters like this one, it would be perfect for this challenge! I cut my card at 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" this time. I covered it with cardstock from the DCWV Celebrations pack. For the lion (on page 26), I hid the face with my gypsy, so I could use Peachy Keen Critter Faces (Set A Extra Large) for her face. I only have Bazzill cardstock, (since I only have one scrapbook store here - but she just went out of business!) so the two different shades of green are just scraps. I used my new Martha Stewart punch on the lighter green. I love Spellbinders Nestabilities, so I used Labels 16 for that element.  The stamped sentiment is from Joy's Life "Lots of Pun" stamp set. I finished the project off with my i-Rock and a white gel pen! Enjoy!
