Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Today I've got a super quick post sharing some Halloween treats for my nephews!
This matchbox treat holder is the one that the ladies over at Jaded Blossom sent to their customers with a prior stamp release. My treat holders are holding some M-n-M's. :)
I used PaperTrey Ink black and vintage cream card stock for the holders and my pattern paper is from the Authentique Enchanted 6x6 paper pad. The super cute little pumpkin and spider are clip art files from Revi Devi Halloween Friends file over at www.mygrafico.com. I used the print and cut feature in Silhouette Studio to create them.
The stamps are from the My Creative Time Mixed Holiday Sentiments.

MCT Designer's Challenge :: Tags!

Good morning! Are you all ready for another Designer's Challenge?! Today over at My Creative Time, Ruthie is hosting a TAG challenge.
All you have to do is create a larger 4 inch x 6 inch tag!
You can make it in any shape and use some of the larger sentiment stamps on it. Because ALL of Emma's stamps can be used on any project...and today, we're going to show you some fabulous tags!
I created this tag with a shape from the Silhouette Studio. I created an internal shadow to make my second layer and filled both layers with some digital papers from the Lettering Delights Chill Out paper pack. My banner is also another Silhouette Studio file, and I used a sentiment from the My Creative Time Card Sentiments stamp set.
This super adorable little holiday image is also from the Lettering Delights Chill Out graphic file. Isn't he just so cute? And yes, I know it's a *little* early for some Christmas type projects, but I couldn't resist this little guy! I imported the image into Silhouette studio, traced the image, created a shadow and then used the fabulous print and cut feature. Oh my gosh...I LOVE it! It's like the best print and cut feature I've ever used. :)
I added some doodles with a white gel pen and micro black pen. My little guy is also popped up on some foam pop dots. For the top of my tag, I used some 1 inch jute ribbon from Liz's Paper Loft Boutique. I added a vintage button and finally some Mistletoe Crinkle Ribbon from 3 Girl Jam.
Don't forget to stop by My Creative Time to check out some new tags! Have a fabulous day!

PPPR Design Team Day!

Good morning! Are you ready for another Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons DT post?! Well we've got a ton of cuteness in store for you!
Today, I'm using some of the SVG files in the Fall Festival set! Aren't these just the cutest?!
I used one of the shadow boxes I purchased from the Silhouette Studio for my card. These shadow boxes are so fun to make! I hid the face on the scarecrow so I could add one of the new Peachy Keen Faces from the Piles of 3/4" Smiles Face Assortment. These faces are adorable! And they work perfectly with the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons cutting files! I also used the new Sentiment Spots 1 to create the tag for my sentiment.
Here's just another view of my card. :)
Supplies:
PaperTrey Ink Kraft cardstock
Core'dinations cardstock
We R Memory Keepers Autumn Splendor 6x6 paper stack
Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Fall Festival cut files
Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Sentiment Spots 1 cut files

My Creative Time Mixed Holiday Sentiments
Peachy Keen  Piles of 3/4" Smiles
PaperTrey Ink Twine

Now...on to my project!
This is my first time using some clip art from Cherry Clip Art on Etsy. I have to say, her files are adorable! And they are so easy to print and cut with my cameo! For this image, I just opened it up in Silhouette Studio, traced the image and then added an offset to create the shadow. Super easy! And look how fabulous it printed out! (I printed it out on AC cardstock on my Epson Workforce printer.)
The shape behind my little Frankenstein was a shape I found in the Silhouette Library. Again, I just used the offset feature to create the shadow layer. I LOVE how this feature allows me to cut a perfect shadow. :) I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink and then heat embossed the Stampin' Up White embossing powder onto the Stitched Circle die. I also added some black hemp twine to the card!

A vintage Halloween greeting card!

Good morning! Sorry I've been MIA on my blog this week. It was a super busy week, and then I went out of town this weekend to visit my nephews. :) But...I'm back today with a "vintage" style Halloween card!
This is a standard A2 sized card cut from PaperTrey Ink Kraft cardstock. I also used some Black and Vintage Cream cardstock from PaperTrey Ink. The pattern paper is from the Authentique Enchanted Collection 6x6 paper stack.
The vintage image is from a digital collage sheet called Haunted Bingo Cards I found on Etsy through the Iralamija shop. I printed the images out on American Crafts white textured cardstock with my Epson Workforce printer. I distressed the edges with the Zutter Distrezz-it-all, and then matted it on some black cardstock which was also distressed.
This SUPER cute little bow is made from the 3 Girl Jam Mistletoe Crinkle Ribbon. I just created a double bow and then glue down the ends of the bows to make the additional loops. :) A black button and some hemp twine finished it off! It's kind of a non-traditional Halloween color, but it matches the hat in the image, and I think it came out perfect!

That's it for me today! But don't forget to head on over to My Creative Time to check out some new 3-D projects!
AND
Don't forget to stop by tomorrow and Friday for the My Creative Time 2-Day Halloween Blog Hop! There's sure to be some fabulous Halloween projects and a super "spooktacular" sale this weekend!
I'll also be in another Halloween Blog Hop with the rest of the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons design team on Saturday! There will be a fabulous giveaway from Lisa herself, and some more fabulous projects to inspire you to create your own Halloween projects!

Have a fabulous Wednesday!

A review of the best cutter EVER!

Okay, those of you who know me, know that I have a TON of paper trimmers...okay maybe not a ton but at least a dozen or so. :)

I've tried everything from Provo Craft and Westcott to Fiskars and The Purple Cow. But I can never seem to find a trimmer that is up to my standards.

Usually most of them leave a ragged edge even with a new blade. I use PaperTrey Ink paper for all my card bases, but all the trimmers I have still leave that edge on just basic lighter weight cardstock as well. Which drives me insane! I have to take some scissors and trim up my edges which basically defeats the purpose of the trimmer in the first place. :)

Another problem I have, is with the smaller cutters that have the extendable rulers. I usually make the A2 sized cards, and it never fails that most of these trimmers have the spot I need to measure missing because it's right where the ruler extends. (If that makes sense!) While I am quite close at measuring this spot, I'd just like to have it there for super easy reference.

The final problem I have with other trimmers is the way the blade or blade carrier kind of pull the paper out of alignment. I always line up everything perfectly, but on some trimmers (Westcott and Fiskars) the paper is never cut straight! So when I fold it for my card, I end up having to even it out.

So anytime I see a trimmer online, I just have to get it hoping that it might finally be "the one!"

And guess what! I FINALLY FOUND IT!
This cutter does have a hefty price tag and it is quite large. I was lucky to find the cutter through a Facebook code so I was able to purchase it for half the price, and I also have room for it in my scrap area. Regardless of the price and the size...it is hands down the best cutter I have ever used.

It is made out of sturdy aluminum material and seems to be very well built. And let's face it, sometimes you get what you pay for. :)

I absolutely LOVE the ruler guide. It has all the measurements that I need and because nothing folds/extends they are all listed neatly on the guide.
And all the cuts are perfectly even! (If the ruler does become loose, you can reach the bolts for the ruler guide through the battery compartment and tighten it, if need be.)

There is also a drawer underneath to store some tools in. I have some scissors and scraps in it. :) But you can also fit full 12x12 paper in it.

Another feature about the cutter is that it has this LED light. Now, I thought that was kind of silly. Because I don't craft in the dark, LOL. But after I used the cutter for a week, finally got some batteries and tried it out...WOW! It is cool! It lights up the edge of the paper for perfect cuts every single time.
It's kind of hard to see in this picture, but it helps me to see exactly where my cut will be. Keep in mind that with really thick or opaque cardstock, it doesn't work as well, but that doesn't bother me.

And finally - the blade! It cuts through paper (6" cuts to 1/16" cuts) like butter. And the cuts on both the front and the back of the cardstock are fabulous!
I had to try a 1/16" cut just to see how it came out too.
Perfect! (I taped it down because that small of a piece will curl up on you, but I guess if you needed a cut this small and glued it down - it would work perfectly!)

And just look at the perfect cut on this super thick black PaperTrey Ink cardstock. :)
The blade is also somewhat self-sharpening because of the material that the blade cuts against. It claims to be the LAST cutter that we'll ever need. And right now - I truly believe that it might be!

And with that, it's time to finish up my review. I give this cutter 5 stars. :) I haven't used another trimmer since I have begun using this one. And I don't plan to. :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog this morning and don't forget to swing by later in the week for two super fun Halloween blog hops!

Today I'm sharing this super cute fall pumpkin card! Fall is my favorite season, and these pumpkins are just sooo cute! They are from the Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons Pumpkin Patch cutting files, and the pattern paper (on the pumpkins) is from the Halloween Circles & Spots digital paper pack.
To create the tag for my sentiment, I used a technique that one of my fellow My Creative Time DT sisters, Ruthie used on her last Technique Tuesday. I used the My Creative Time Just Tag dies and just cut them down using my Cuttlebug to create a tag with the original My Creative Time signature stitching. :) Ruthie even has a video posted on how to do this!

My Creative Time :: Scrapping the Little Things

Good morning! Are you ready for another segment of Scrapping the Little Things over at My Creative Time? Every other Monday, Emma challenges the design team to create layouts! Super fun (and super challenging since I am WAY behind on scrapbooks!) and it offers me so much inspiration to get working on some!
Well guess what? I finally got my hands on some Smash products! I didn't even realize that they are sold at my Wal-Mart, but now that I know it's there...watch out! :) I purchased a couple of books and a few of the accessories just to get me started.

For my very first Smash page, I wanted to include something that will get me going at full steam. So what better than my cameras! I mean without my camera, I wouldn't be able to scrap anything! So I took some pics of my favorite equipment that I use to capture my family memories.
I generally use my Nikon D700 or D7000 and a handful of different lenses.
A couple of my favorite lenses are my Nikkor 85mm f1.8D and Nikkor 50mm f1.4G. And of course my Nikkor Micro lens. :)
Another piece of equipment that we use quite often is our Sony HandyCam.
